Thinking today about self development, #kaizen, the relentless pursuit of growth and improvement, that has become my credo.

Over the last few years, in an effort to establish my young family and career, I have been singularly focused on laying the foundation, building my business, always looking towards the next step or phase in the plan, and I think at times it has been driving me insane.

Scratch that, I KNOW it has been driving me insane.

I know I haven't given myself enough to slow down and appreciate all that is around me. The singular focus on improvement has left me little time to appreciate the foundational steps that have been laid.

I realized today - after stressing about our projects all last week - that our team was succeeding in uncharted territory. Each of us has taken on new challenges, gained new skills, adjusted their roles, and while I have been thinking that we were going down in flames, I had the epiphany that we are landing this plane.

In fact, we may have already landed, we might just be coasting towards the terminal now.

Going to practice a more balanced approach to the whole "trying to get better everyday #kaizen" approach that I have riding with for awhile.

Growth is good, but I also want to enjoy and appreciate the music that I am making.
