Event history can be faked and backdated, there is no enforcement.
Only viable alternative is web of trust, i.e. how much your follows initiated an event involving pubkey X.

I guess by event history I mean engagement.
Very hard to fake engagement.
It's really not. Spin up a bunch of not private keys that Start to engage with a single account.
Unless the engagement comes from accounts you trust, it's meaningless.
Correct. So event history with engagement from a web of trust > NIP-5?
That's actually a nice idea. Build a metric that can be pluggedjin to clients showing the nostr-of-trust score.
Nostrgram.co is already using a similar "web of trust" model where it assigns a number to each person in your timeline based on if you follow them, if they follow you and how many of your followers/followees follow them, etc. The higher the more "trustworthy".
ie: You're a 13 to me. Here's what it looks like:

(Really I'm just wondering why my NIP-5 is failing right now...)
