The biggest problem with the tagging system on #pubky right now is probably that it uses some weird limited character set instead of Unicode.
This is fun in some ways, but I've just noticed how it will totally fuck up compatibility with a more functional tagging system. All the work of tagging posts there will need to be done again. I didn't really think about that until now.

Unicode plus tagging, that's your jam! I forget why it is now that you have such strong feelings about Unicode, even though you explained it to me once
In this case it's just necessity, you can't have such a limited character set for tags
This one is so limited an English speaking user notices issues like people needing to somehow agree on how to adapt names instead of just agreeing to type things correctly
imagine how bad it must be for other languages
It's too early for me to research Unicode again, but perhaps I'll revisit later.
I think I did notice a character limit maybe, or some other constraint the other day.
