Additionally you can use the free time to prepare for the actual valuable electives.

these days you can get a BS in a year in an accelerated program

then either transfer that to a regular school and skip all the core shit, go on to grad school in a related field, or just say good enough and start working

it may seem silly to get a bachelor's degree to make it easier to get a bachelor's degree but there are only so many degree options in accelerated programs, and if you want to be e.g. a mechanical engineer or a marine biologist (lol) those aren't options
