Perplexity offering over 250 thousand Bitcoin (in USD) to buy Chrome

I guess they want it for its local install base - so much spare processing power on so many machines worldwide. They'll probably take advantage of that with AI features that utilize the system's local resources as much as possible.

I guess those features might also be proprietary and not available in a libre Chromium install.
