Is there any Linux laptop manufacturer that makes laptops as good as MacBooks (screen, sound, battery life)? I have a MacBook Pro 15” 2018, I’m planing an upgrade in the next year. Normally I would wait for M3 Max, but I was thinking about returning to Linux (I used Gentoo and Ubuntu in 2003-2008), but I can’t find anything with a good large and bright screen, great speakers and 10+ hours of battery life. I’ve checked System76, Tuxedo and Slimbook.

I have 2019 intel MacBook I to am trying to figure out a upgrade plan maybe away from mac to Linux frameworks new 16 inch is looking like a possibility.
Framework 16 looks really nice, I love the whole concept. I can imagine using old boards after upgrading framework for new home servers and Bitcoin nodes :). Hopefully there will be many reviews and tests of the new framework 16 when M3 Max will be released.
Agreed battery is always the low point for non apple hardware, but I feel like it’s time for me to move to Linux full time Microsoft and apple are just that good on privacy
I looked into this too, I don’t think there is. Also there are long delivery times. You’ll have to compromise a bit if you want to run linux.
Or hopefully Asahi Linux will fully support Apple hardware soon
I have tuxedo infinity book pro 14 with rtx. I like it, but you cannot expect macbook quality. The display is awesome (i like it even more than macbook), but the body is much more fragile. Battery is definitely worse (the m1/2 is so power effective, that I think you will not find anything better on the market) and the sound is shitty in comparison with apple (but I use headphones most of the time).
Performance is great, but the price was little higher than same performance on macbook m1. After few months my display got broken (I guess because of the fragile body), but support was great, they changed whole display for free with no hesitance.
I still love the notebook, but it is more sentimental and if you are looking for build quality, macbook has no competitor.
