Not sure if this is a joke or not…
But you are inhaling a chemical irritant. This causes inflammation in your lower airways (your alveoli) which in turn (and depending upon your individual level of airway reactivity) can result in anything from airway edema (swelling), to bronchospasm, to pulmonary fibrosis (scarring) if chronic enough and remodeling occurs in your lung tissue.
Crackles can be a sign of pulmonary edema or infection.
