My grandfather served in the Australian navy during WWII. He captained a small rescue ship off PNG.
He never attended ANZAC day ceremonies nor observed it in any way, to my knowledge.
I follow his example and ignore it.
Australia has never had good cause to join in in any war, save the possible exception of the *near* defence of Australia in WWII.
This is different to countries that have had real cause to fight for the survival of the nation, like Russia.
So I ignore all of the manufactured drama and glorification of our foreign misadventures around ANZAC Day. It should be a day that is allowed to die out (as was happening through the 70s & 80s before Howard resurrected it in the 90s).
