Even with armor, my guess is three .45 LC packing 1300 ftlbs to the rib cage is going to take your wind and knock you down. If you’re quick the other three are available for close range follow up. I think with powerful cartridges six is always enough. Worst case, six with six more on a speed loader.

Overall, you're correct. My only counterpoint is that multiple assailant incidents are on the rise. More firepower in hand is a very good thing, IMO

I agree, I tend to see it as I’m either being prepared while participating in polite society, or I’m coping with a combat zone in which case the loud-out would be substantially different. There are situations in which probably being prepared adequately all the time is unreasonable, and that lack of adequate preparedness means assured defeat. There are legal ramifications to consider surrounding a defensive shooting scenario with lots of preparedness. It doesn’t look good in court. For me it boils down to assessing risk. Multiple assailants? Probably just give them what they want.
