At the start of the New Year we see a lot of people take on “dry January”.
They put down the bottle and chill out for a month. But we are seeing a growing trend that people are moving away from alcohol entirely.
Alcohol consumption among American adults fell to an all-time low of 54% in 2025 (slide 1) according to Gallup who has been tracking American drinking behavior since 1939. We’re also seeing that alcohol consumption is falling among all demographics lead by the Republicans and the lower class (slide 2)!
Many people are moving away from alcohol due to the health concerns of drinking and a main contributor to this is the internet. Information travels faster than ever before and people are learning that drinking has its consequences, that’s not to say it isn’t fun.
With less alcohol consumption, how will this impact the business of alcohol and will former alcohol drinkers move to alternative markets? I’ll be exploring this in an upcoming video on my YouTube! Stay tuned and Subscribe!
And Happy New Year!
