I think a lot of 'maliciousness' is in fact a cover for decay caused by egalitarian incompetence (as an opponent of meritocracy, free markets, private property, etc)

You will eat the bugs (because we are incompetent to govern food distribution)

You will have blackouts (because we are incompetent to govern energy distribution)

You will live in a 15-minute city (because we are incompetent to maintain transportation networks)

And so on
