Unless the photo is being used for commercial purposes or it is in a private space it isn't an "asshole move"

It is entirely within the law.

Only assholes think they can go to a conference hall or restaurant with a bandana on their face and not be doxxed.

You guys really need to get over yourselves.

Masking your face in public spaces is highly disrespectful, and insulting everyone around you. If you want to remain anonymous, stay at home.

Just because it's legal doesn't mean it's right. If you knowingly take a picture of someone you know doesn't want you to and you don't give them a chance to avoid it, you're a fucking asshole.

If it happens by chance then that it on them. But to secretly do it with intent is absolutely an asshole move.

This is wrong. If you are in public, so long as it isn't a private space like a change room or a washroom, you have given complete consent to your picture being taken.

Like whenever you walk into Walmart, or any other store. When you go to a baseball game. If you are in public, you don't get to cry "foul" because your picture is taken. No one needs your consent, and you don't get to call them an asshole. If you are in public...you are in public. It is the way the world has always worked. Crying about it, and wearing masks, and calling people "assholes" doesn't change this.

Try walking around a beach taking photos of people sunbathing, you might be able to, but that doesn’t mean you should.

There are a lot of things you shouldn't do but you can. I don't understand your point. Wearing a bandana over your face at a bitcoin conference doesn't change a thing. Anyone is allowed to take a photo of you. You might think it is a dick move. It might ruffle some feathers. But that is all well within their rights.

People get undressed at the beach and it's implied that they don't want their photo taken while they are in a bikini. People wearing a bandana are expressing that they don't want their identity revealed.

Taking photos of people on bikinis at the beach is a dick move, taking photos of people wearing a bandana is a greater dick move. It's basic courtesy.

Wrong.

People going out in public trying to cover their identity are doing the exact opposite of common decency.

It defies the social order of Western culture and it is highly ignorant. You can't board a plane or enter a bank with your face covered. There is a reason for this.

When you go out in public. You are in public. Period. And you actually can take pictures of people on the beach. I don't know what the fuck you are talking about. Have you ever even been to a beach or been in public?

If you go out into the big scary world...people will take your picture. It is within their legal rights. Sorry I don't make the rules. It is proof of work pal.

You can take pictures of people sunbathing, by the way. Nothing is stopping you. Have you people all lost your minds? You understand what being in public means, right?

Were saying it's a dick move, not that it's illegal.

A beach, where people are in a state of undress or occasionally undressing/changing clothes is an ENTIRELY different setting than a conference centre that the Vice President is attending.

There is no reasonable expectation that you will not have your photo taken or published if you attend a corporate bs Bitcoin Conference that is being attended by the VP 😅

I get that it might be impolite or not fitting to the "culture" of the attendees but calling anyone and asshole or dick about it is a bit rich.

If you go out in public, you are public. Simple as.

I gotta say, I agree!
