🖤 Trauma bonding is a powerful psychological phenomenon where a narcissist creates an emotional attachment through a toxic cycle of abuse and reward.

🌪️ At first, you may feel swept away by love and admiration (the reward), but over time, manipulation and emotional abuse take over. This cycle often creates confusion and low self-esteem, making it challenging to break free.

🔄 The intermittent reinforcement of kindness after criticism or abuse keeps you hoping for a return to the initial affection. Remember, recognizing this cycle is the first step towards healing. Your feelings are valid, and support is out there! 💪✨ #MentalHealth #NarcissisticAbuse #TraumaBonding

My dad was a narcisist, he was very abusive to my mom and I when I was growing up. When my mom died last year we found poems expressing how she just wanted a shred of love from my dad. This was many decades after leaving my dad. She never even hinted to us that she wrote poetry. Cheers!
