"Red wine is good for your heart because of resveratrol!"

Cool. Eat some grapes if you want resveratrol.

The alcohol is poison. At any dose.

No amount of alcohol is beneficial. Zero. None.

The "heart health" studies are observational nonsense confounded by:

- Moderate drinkers being wealthier (better overall health)

- Moderate drinkers having better social connections

- Moderate drinkers exercising more

- Moderate drinkers eating better diets

Control for socioeconomic status and the "benefit" disappears.

What alcohol actually does:

- Damages your liver (even moderate consumption)

- Disrupts sleep architecture (ruins REM sleep)

- Impairs protein synthesis (kills gains)

- Increases inflammation

- Disrupts hormone production (lowers testosterone)

- Impairs decision-making (makes you eat rubbish)

- Dehydrates you

- Provides zero nutritional value

"But I only have 1-2 glasses of wine per night!"

That's 7-14 drinks per week. That's not moderate. That's regular alcohol consumption that's slowly degrading your health while you tell yourself it's fine because it's wine and not vodka.

Your liver doesn't distinguish between "classy" alcohol and "trashy" alcohol.

Ethanol is ethanol.

If you want to drink, drink. But stop pretending it's healthy.

It's a recreational poison you're choosing to consume. At least be honest about it.
