Where ever an initiative to move Bitcoin mining to an ASIC-resistant algorithm?

At first glance, I’d imagine it strengthens decentralization & redundancy 🤔

Are there significant drawbacks? Or is it a question of incentives?

There was definitely a lot of discussion about it when Monero's asic-resistant algorithm first became widespread knowledge. I think it's a question of incentives
