With SaaS, and 'cloud'* computing, people, and institutions, often don't realise they will be left owning cars but not the engines and trunks/boots:

And may never realise that because, often, SaaS is cheaper when it has significantly reduced the IT support spend. In theory.
It makes me sad. I like like owning the engine and the boot.
* My dad, in his late 60s, can remember terminals connected to a mainframe and I was using remote X windows terminals in the 1990s. And VMs are far from new. The Cloud is a bullshit marketing term for distributed computing and data storage, that already existed but has grown beyond all recognition. It's very lucrative. I'm fine with the phrase but it's clever** rebranding.
** In that it's an astute observation and estimation of the intended audience.
