What is the need for this?
can we invent a thing that’s talking about a hashtag and linking to a hashtag but not meant to include the content in the hashtag nostr:npub1zafcms4xya5ap9zr7xxr0jlrtrattwlesytn2s42030lzu0dwlzqpd26k5
maybe @#hashtag ?

then the hashtag has less of
“You should check out #^hashtag “
I see a lot of people suggesting a hashtag, and they don’t do it in a quote note (to retroactively add the content to the hashtag), only in a reply… sometimes it’s just pointing someone asking about a certain topic, like an artist joins nostr, and they ask where do I post my art.
here is an example… but also people who are cognizant of this just aren’t talking about them because they would flood the topic with non topic.
If it’s non topic, you just mute them
but I want you to be able to say
“hey i really enjoyed #^artstr today”
to link me to that hashtag
or I found value in following #^bitcoinpol
Or mention a few non connected ones you enjoy, to your followers you want to see you… but not put those unrelated hashtags into the hashtag feed
“ I recommend the following hashtags (be sure to delete space if you intend to tag them)
# artstr
# foodstr
# funny “
but wouldn’t it be nice if this linked to the beautiful new hashtag pages and easy follow button?
So you want:
1) clickable hashtag (and by extension follow-able hashtag)
2) does not appear in # hashtag results
1) exists
Maybe I should of check the pr’s I assumed because you were asking about what hashtags that new nostriches should be suggested to follow during onboarding that this was your work
Sorry to be more specific followable hashtags exist in damus now
Yes, and yes that was me asking for hashtag suggestions for new users. You can add suggestions here: https://github.com/damus-io/damus/issues/987.
To clarify you are requesting a feature that accomplishes both 1), and 2).
my bad I assumed this was you submitting through email git cause you were talking about hashtag following

I’ve tried for the last two hours to implement with something that starts like this… but it seems like everything I do I can’t get it to stop it seeing the hashtag first 😅 i thought, maybe it should just be ^hashtag for the link. But to be honest I’ve tried to do that too 😂
I’ve been trying to implement it just in the util>hashtags under the func hashtag_str so I only have to change this one file and not go add a separate func hashtag_strLink in all the views, maybe it needs that 💁♀️
any feedback on where I’m going wrong is appreciated. It can’t be that complicated to say # andor ^
