☁️ THE CLOUD IS SOMEONE ELSE’S COMPUTER ☁️

Most of you may already know this but is something that we should keep repeating since most people don’t know this.

The fact that your data and applications are stored on physical servers in remote, third-party-owned data centers, rather than on your local device should worry everyone storing valuable personal information.

Third party: you give up your privacy, your power, and you introduce counterparty risk.

You are putting all the information you store in the “cloud” at risk.

One day you can wake up and find out you lost all of your data.

Is like having your bitcoins on the exchange. Not your keys not your coins.

Your data on the cloud, not your data.

The “cloud” = someone else’s computer.

What’s a beginners guide to doing something about this?

Seems like something I should look at

Umbrel and Start 9 offer easy to use personal servers. I'm not Gigi, obviously. Just a pleb and privacy fan. Good place to get an idea of what's available and what's involved

Exactly! I am also not the best advisor but my advise will be:

(1) Stop using the "cloud" forever. Take all your data and save it on your own hardware.

(2) Use nostr and own your content, move your value from other social media to nostr.

(3) Run your own server with umbrel or star9. Increase your sovereignty on the digital realm.

And last but not least: Fuck Elon, apple, amz, kill gates, and long live freedom, bitcoin and nostr!
