Primal doesn’t support NIP-42 so it won’t work with filter unfortunately. We’ve asked several times if it’s on their roadmap but never gotten a response.

You enable relays to require authentication from clients to access restricted ressources.
ie paid content from the client that is restricted to paying customers
I meant to write: paid content from the filter that is restricted to paying customers
Put more simply: a way for our relay to know who is making requests for notes. Without it, we have no way to restrict access to only our paying customers.
It also lets us protect your DM metadata by only allowing the author and recipient to query the event on nostr.wine.
