The US is sending a warship and more F35, F16 fighter jets to the Middle East in response to increased aggression on the part of Iran, including Iranian attempts to capture commercial ships in the Straits of Hormuz: the American destroyer, and the planes "will protect the interests of the US and protect freedom of navigation in the area".
