Lumen Orbit, a startup based in Redmond, Washington, has closed an oversubscribed seed round of over $10 million, making it one of the hottest deals from Y Combinator's latest cohort. The company aims to build a network of data centers in space that can scale to a gigawatt capacity and be used for training large AI models. Despite being a moonshot idea, Lumen Orbit has made notable progress, planning to launch its demonstrator satellite in 2025 with Nvidia's Inception program.
