Externally-hosted relays add value to #Nostr because

* they allow you to create a virtual, personalized space,

* they give companies an easy way to gain a professionally-managed relay or mirror,

* and they allow people in more restrictive jurisdictions to have a relay elsewhere.

That said, hosting a relay on your own machine adds value by expanding the number of physical computers hosting a relay and the number of persons who are relay admins. That aids censorship resistence and network resilience.

Any good link to start a personal relay on its computer ?

With those good machines and fiber, it’s not bad and we can even share with a few friends

https://github.com/CodyTseng/nostr-relay-tray from nostr:npub1syjmjy0dp62dhccq3g97fr87tngvpvzey08llyt6ul58m2zqpzps9wf6wl I think they also have a hub to host those relays, if you don't have a webserver.

You can also use Citrine on your Android. Works with Amber and Amethyst. Can't be shared with others, tho.

You can run nostr-relay-tray on your computer and use ngrok for reverse proxy. Set up some rules to only accept events from you and your friends. This way, you'll have a relay that only stores events from you and your friends.

Thank you very much πŸ™πŸ™
