One of the first measures the #Nazis under #Hitler did was a population count.

#IBM founder Thomas J. Watson Jr. built the machines they used to categorise the German population and also to run the concentration camps. He received a personal medal of honour from Hitler for this, which he only returned after the United States entered WWII.

This is why Germans love data protection laws.

That came later but yes, another dark period in the history of Germany where data collection was the basis for oppression
