So I think this is a nuanced topic. Yes if you have optimal vitamin D levels you are much more likely to have better Covid outcomes. Better many sickness outcomes. But there isn't that I am aware any study that suggest taking vitamin D supplements will help.

So vitamin D levels could just mean healthy bodies have optimal vitamin D levels and it might not be the actual vitam D that is doing the healing.

But in Northern climes like ours in Canada, supplementation is a must in the winter. Especially when they had us face-diapering and locked inside for months on end.

I'm actually not convinced Vitamin D supplements do anything. Go ahead and take them but also eat lots of fish, meat, clams like the natives did. They had perfect teeth and no tooth brushes before we brought grain, sugar and beer over. Tanning beds once or twice a week aren't that bad either.
