Well, sometimes it's difficult to tell whether someone is joking or not. I've seen that exact same image used in recent days in a non-joking manner.

I have a family member who has down syndrome, so yeah, even though I would say it doesn't rise to the same level as "n_____”, I don't really like the word "retarded" either.

I will block you if you wish.

Hey I have family members too. Brings up an excellent question. At what point is something offensive? Because it doesn't offend me at all. That being said, if someone called them a retard to hurt them. I'd probably knock their teeth out.

Here's my take. -- I think everyones "psychological make up" is different. Not wrong or right, just different.

Some people take offense. Some don't. So who becomes the arbiter of speech? What can be said and what cannot.

Did you know that homeless people is an offensive term? It's supposed to be unhoused. Same with Blind.

Also it's not committed suicide, it's died by suicide.

None of this is meant to antagonize. It's alllll just stuff I think about.

I have family members with down syndrome*

I don't know at what point something is offensive or not, I think it depends on the person experienceing it. I don't think anyone's speech should be restricted. Exceptions can be made of course for stuff like shouting fire in a crowded theater. All that said, just because one person is entitled to free speech doesn't mean they are entitled to force me hear it. So yeah, if someone decides to use n_____ unredacted, I will use my free speech to call that person an asshole and block them. I don't see the problem with that. Have a good day.
