Got a couple of Gloucester Old Spots coming to raise for meat so we're building a little shelter. It's our first time raising hogs and I'm curious....raise them quick on free feed or raise them slow on measured feed? Seems like people like one way or another, we haven't decided but probably slower for more meat vs too much fat (not opposed to fat...we love lard!). Kids have named them site unseen already Bacon and Sausage--but I kinda like Paco and Taco.

I have no idea about raising pigs but the Gloucester Old Spot is such a good bred for eating 😁. It's starting to made a come back here recently but considering I almost live in Gloucestershire it should never been considered a rare breed in the first place. Hopefully I can have some running through an orchard one day 🙂
Hopefully they'll run through my orchard only when I expect them to 😁
