The process to apply for and pay for a #GMRS license on the FCC website is absolutely bananas. 15 step process to attest that I am a citizen and pay $35.

You should look at Meshtastic.

I started with Meshtastic, but no nodes near me so I have been starting to play with GMRS and will eventually get my ham license.

Cool, great skills to have.

Heh, the Indonesians don't seem to care about licenses, just have a listen on 40m every night. 😂

No one's probably going to come looking, unlike in the 'free' West.

Yeah but it's only the other slaves coming. 😂 You can beat them with the old shoot (transmit) & scoot method. 😂

We used to piss of CB nerds, basically turn channels into radio stations, they'd get furious and try and find us, but we'd keep moving in our cars. Fun times.

🤣

Good practice for later, definitely don't want to be giving away a position when it all goes to shit. 😂

Government licensing processes have a lot in common with how bread molds.

What's worst case likely scenario if you don't get the license and operate an illegal HAM? Does law enforcement actually find people doing that and jail/fine them? Or is this like a tearing the tag off the mattress kind of thing?
