Well, that cannot be changed. That is an unfortunate reality. But it is reality nonetheless. So you can ignore reality, but you cannot ignore the consequences of ignoring reality. Wishful thinking is not going to prevent violence. Criminals have always existed and always will. And as such, people have the right and the duty to defend against such. Evil exists.

I am not ignoring reality. But fighting power with power has taken humanity nowhere. It has escalated thoughout the years. And repeating the same behaviour expecting different results is madness. I think that a lot of violence and criminality exists because since very young age we are conditioned and repressed to act in a way that allows the ones in power to control us. And people react differently to this conditioning. More and more people with personality disorders are spreading around the world, is insane. So the issue is not about defense, or weapons, that in future can have really nasty results. The issue is about building character and how we raise our childrens. The amount of inbalance that exists in opportunities, wealth distribution to name a few.
So a parent shouldnt be able to defend his or her child and women shouldnt be able to defend themselves against rapists is what you are saying. Really that is exactly what you are saying.

The issue you are talking about has nothing to do with the use of weapons or not.
How can a baby defend himself, alone, with an adult that is abusing him? What would a weapon be of any use in this horrible outrageous situation?
You don't get Peace by going to war or buy using weapons. You gain peace by changing behaviour and mindsets.
My weapons are for defense. My weapons are not a cause of war nor are any weapons. People are.
Exactly! My point is exactly that. Not against the use of weapons for self defense against real dangers. But against the use of weapons as a mean to control and get resources and wars between countries. Do you get me?
Either way, I believe that if we evolve as a species towards cooperation and helping each other, we would gradually not have the need of using weapons, except for the defence against dangerous animals. IMHO
And you dont get peace by being defenseless against those with intent to harm. You get peace by being able to stop aggressors.
