I am all for immigration. The more the better. But legal and sustainable immigration is better for the country and safer for those immigrating. Deaths from the journey and the resultant slave trade from illegal immigration would be much more reduced. If those charged with administering the law’s actually followed them (on immigration or otherwise), it would set a good example for those domiciled and those immigrating.
The government doesn’t have many core functions but safety is one of them.
