Nice try. It is not customary for a U.S. president to attend a dignified transfer of service members who die in training accidents—or even in most combat-related deaths. Presidential attendance is rare and typically reserved for:

• High-profile incidents

• Large casualty events

• Moments of national attention or significance

For example, President Obama attended the dignified transfer of troops killed in Afghanistan in 2009. President Biden attended one in 2021 after the Kabul airport bombing.

Most dignified transfers are attended by:

• Military officials

• Family members

• Sometimes the Secretary of Defense or other senior leaders

So while a president can attend, it’s not the norm for training-related deaths. The decision usually reflects the visibility, scale, or political context of the incident.
