I just heard couple days ago that wigs became popular due to syphilis having some effect on the scalp or hair, which would naturally spread through rich class fastest. Didn't verify, but gonna go ahead and believe that.

That's where I heard it! Lol. Couldn't for life of me think why I knew that. Probably some truth to it, but hard to imagine it was sole cause or even a large one.
