That's one thing I do actually concur with you on. They don't like "Strange/worrying shit" that's probably true, leaving their sphere of influence!
They get us young. Forcing everyone into the schooling system to start the journey of indoctrination, so much so that oftentimes you have no choice but to send your kids to school or they threaten to take them away. It's in cartoons, TV, movies, books, education systems.
They want everyone thinking the same way, and they have all sorts of programs to identify exceptional minds early on and guide them into working for them in the future.
"Born secret" is key in their rationale. Being jailed, yes, but they will go through something obscure like IRS to "find" a felony. They stalk and harass, utilize DEW and V2S to torture, poison your food, etc.
Simply being a genius inventor is not sufficient. They have to stand up against lawfare, physical threat, corpirate espionage. Anything to protect quo.
