If you are curious why SW and TDev felt compelled to take a plea and Roman is still fighting, I can think of some reasons.

This is 100% spot on.

Especially considering their investors 1031 and their talking heads literally turned their backs on them for damn near a year of their hourse arrest. No mention of support until well after the big Pardon and Orange Man I'm charge.
