Gold is an investment so having the price stay the same can be disastrous.
Bitcoin is not! Having the price stay the same just means you will not get that icing on the cake (financial profit), everything else is still useful.

Like saifadeen says, price appreciation/number go up technology is what brings most (not all) into bitcoin. Hopefully they come for the gains and stay for the tech/freedom.
But I’d wager you never get anything close to mass adoption if price stays under 35k forever.
If fiat completely dies, bitcoin will end up being either worthless or priceless.
