But but the smartphone could be any phone and it doesn't need to be connected to any entity. Just just you just need Wi-Fi and and in Africa. People are receiving and sending bitcoin through text messages With early nokia phones

There's also NFC cards as an option (not sure if you need a smartphone in any part of activation process, not sure). But this is a way less popular option
