I've wrestled with this myself. How I currently see it is if push comes to shove, IRA is there for me to convert to cash whenever, acting as an additional barrier to having to sell my corn if something bad were to happen to me financially

Meh. That’s called savings. Bitcoin is savings tech. Better than the IRA.

but why not have all savings in the best savings. at this time IRA are less liquid than BTC. And probably will remain so.
