I think you are right, but also linked to an economic incentive that can’t be hijacked by a platform.

Very true, so this fitness is calculated on the protocol level, maybe even has some room for a sub function on how the NIP’s foster this incentive. Like bad proposals and implementations still could give centralised entities a leg up therefore forcing a subset of the Nostr adoption to slowdown. It’s an interesting thought exercise 🏃‍♀️

I think the key is that many protocols are designed to prevent generic fitness-payoff in the first place. #nostr is the first case for me that doesn’t actively prevent me from doing something.
