Who else does self-hosting here? I now self-host my movie, music and audiobook collections on Plex and my ebooks on Calibre-web…. I’ll eventually selfhost my document storage and have my own offsite server for s3-based backups (running on solar). Why? Because I want to control my content - not Apple, Netflix, Amazon, Walmart… no one. They have all made it harder and harder to control and manage your content thanks to DMCA, DRM and making it damn near impossible to download any content for archival purposes. I still buy the media but after I do it’s on MY servers under my control with NO one watching what I’m doing. No recommendations for shit I don’t listen to, watch or read…

So who else’s is doing this on #nostr ?

I'm doing the same except I don't pay for the media.

If this is the way they act, then they don't deserve my money. I make my own rules.

What do you use to get media? I used to use pirate bay back in the day but not sure if that's the best way to go about it

qBittorrent's search feature

Which when you combine it with a VPN tunnel is a solid way to get content.

This is a good one. But I usually use private torrents. Since anystream went away I’ve hidden BitTorrent behind VPN.

Honestly I do not blame you.
