Played poker in person for the first time. A few things surprised me. First is that I was really nervous. Sitting at a table where everyone else knows what they are doing and are trying to take your money is intimidating. Spent a lot of time folding just so I could get familiar with the flow. Second was the amount of mess ups by the dealer. I folded in the small blind but the dealer took my full $5 chip and did not give me $4 in change back like he was supposed to. There were multiple other times where players called out the dealer for doing something wrong and the dealer apologized. The last thing was that women get a lot of grief at the table- both players and dealers. It was a lot of drunk flirting type behavior to people that obviously weren’t interested.

Overall it was a good time. I lost some money overall but didn’t play too bad and even won a few hands.

First time is always nerve racking

What stakes and was this a home game or casino?

1/2 at a casino. It’s crazy how the pot starts building. I’m like ok now I’m betting $25 and there are still two more cards to be go

I know exactly what you mean. It was very helpful to me to start thinking in %’s so it wasn’t as nerving. Half pot is always half pot especially when you start doing SPR calc’s. SPR is always SPR no matter how much you have in front of you.

Proper bankroll management will also help nerves.
