I view gold as useless. And I view bitcoin as hundreds of times more valuable than the largest companies in the world combined.

So, until we take that #1 position on the market cap list, I could care less about the fiat value of bitcoin. Even then, I won’t care because everything will start being priced in bitcoin. We will swap the denominator with the thing that is actually valuable to the entire world.

Zoom out. We don’t need to play within the system, we can break out of it entirely. Follow the orange trail.

Sure, but just ignoring the current value compared to the current base measurement is a great way to miss potential problems. And it attracts more people into the new system.

And how would you even know when it gets to the top of a fiat list without focusing on fiat value?

It’ll keep doing as it was designed to do - to bring fairness to the world.

Yes, if adoption continues. It wouldn't if people had no way of judging it's progress within the current frame.

But I think it is one of the more boring topics overall. It's fun for a few minutes for me and then I'm back onto other things that actually interest me. Ideally, Bitcoin will make money boring again. Too much shit is financialized, which is probably why so many people are focused on it.

I view gold better than fiat, and Bitcoin way better than gold

A nicer turd is still a turd.

Its not useless you can sell it to boomers and then buy #btc

Give it to me I sell it right away. Useless.

Right away sir. Rat poison

Yeah, I agree that bitcoin is vastly superior to gold, but I also know that most people don’t know that - so, for another couple of decades it may be wise to stack sats to the max but keep a little gold, silver, soap, cigarettes, and condoms stashed away for barter and a little brass, lead, and steel handy for other reasons.

Without gold Bitcoin would not exist.

Simple fact.

There's gold in your phone, gold in your computer.

Like copper and silicon and everything else that is required for the internet and energy infrastructure to function.

Gold is an extremely useful natural resource.

It's crazy how people think that gold is only valuable as a speculative asset to gamble on.

That entire way of thinking seems retarded to me.

Indeed.

Gold as a monetary metal is phasing out, but it still has its uses for ornamental and technological purposes.

When I lived in Wisconsin and believed if shtf I would stay put no matter what, some gold and silver and the preparation closets were full. During covid my strategy changed to being mobile, warm climate with year long farming, and lots of rain and ocean coastline. Still keep some silver handy.
