I totally get that but isn’t that a short term solution for a long term problem?

I was more so thinking about it from the perspective of someone who works an entire day and receives under 10 USD. In that situation every cent matters and if interacting with people online becomes an expense not worth them participating in then I’d feel bad using it frivolously as someone born and raised in the west. Especially knowing how the Western financial system destroyed other countries’ currencies.

The solution is complicated though, I’m sure.

i hear you and that is a real problem to think about... rn most people wont consider paying for something the think is free (social media) but as new models evolve they might prove to be necessary (and better) the issue is how to include those important voices that cannot afford it... the whole "democracy" conundrum..

maybe they can rely on donations or we can have funds that support those voices? (for a start)

Idk… maybe it will boil down to relays?? Maybe there will be specific relays that can solve the problem. I’m not versed on coding and stuff so I’m not sure what the solution is or if relays even work the way I think they do 😂

I just think barriers of entry can be just as problematic as they are beneficial… like it’s gonna stifle innovation or something.
