Saving money in Real Estate is immoral, IMO.

Investing in RE required leverage with "debt" to begin with, sometimes it's 4X or 5X the original down payment.

Because of that, the price of single family homes is skyrocketing based on the massive amount of money + debt that being injected into this market.

Consequently, even an average couple with a full time job will not able to afford to buy one to start a family. It eventually priced out for the first time home buyers.

What do they do? They have to seek for house rental. In fact, this will exacerbate the rental market (rent price go up) simply because there are too many renters who are coming from the exact situation of not able to afford a home for themselves. So they have to compete to rent for a place to live. Look at home rental in California and New York.

So, what is the solution?

For a long time, financial literates are smart. They are constantly seeking to save their hard earned "paper money" into a real thing that can store value over time and has limited supply. Gold, and Real Estate has been the tools for that reason.
