Here's how the math deep inside works:
I am the most valuable the most important asset in the universe.
Therefore, ensuring I get what I need is the most critical task always, and all other values, principles, wellbeing and existance of anything and anyone fades compared to this one.
While I do have other moral values like decentralization, preserving everyone's individual sovereignty, caring for children, etc., honestly, they are lower priority than my happiness.
My happiness is a complex thing, that consists of happiness of those around me among other things. But bottom line is - if I am unhappy I cannot help anyone and the world ends.
So, when sideing with my worst enemies like centralization, collectivism and fascism weighs down the scale of my happiness, make no mistake, I will side with them.
Anyone who thinks he is different is either an NPC or simply lieing to oneself. And surely, when lying to yourself, you do not take optimal decisions.
In other words: you are built in an image of a god. So you are god. So act like one.
