it makes no sense to use 9Front as your daily driver OS.

But i cant stop doing it. I update my Linux and OpenBSD installs, and find myself back in this tiny operating system which doesnt even have a full fledged web browser.

That sounds legit. Is the 9 a reference to Plan9 by chance?

9front is a fork of plan9, originally by someone who worked on the project before it got shut down. its got a weird community, kinda like combining unix neck beards with hackerish punkrock art, and troll meme humor.

That's fucking badass! I've long admired the concept behind Plan9. I love the simplicity of UNIX and UNIXlikes that follow that philosophy of keeping things small, modular, and composable. All the best complexity stems from simple and well-tailored building blocks. Just like how an economy suffers from centrally planned, monolithic, clever designs, so too do computers and the cultures surrounding them.
