I use Obtainium and Droid-ify (F-Droid but better) for 95% of my apps. Only thing I DON'T use those for are apps that aren't downloadable through either, in which case I use Aurora.

And even then, I make sure to get my most important apps directly through Obtainium only. Still not a perfect solution since GitHub is equally vulnerable to censorship since Microsoft owns it, but still: better than relying on Google, who is desperate and spiraling before our very eyes.
