yeah, ffs i'm sure there is a word for it wth

ah yes, this answer from quora will sort you out... Pastirma/pastrami https://www.quora.com/Can-bacon-be-made-of-beef

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pastrami

yes, i remember there is numerous varieties of this kind of preparation all over the balkans... i knew there was a reason why it seemed familiar

in serbia i remember that a kind of dried beef is used in certain soup recipes, and in bulgaria and serbia they have this thing called "slanina" which is generally speaking various kinds of smoked/dried/salted/cured pork, but it did include some variants that came from other animals

as the quora answer makes clear, there is not many parts of a cow that suit being made into something like bacon, but they do exist, and there is other preparations that are not exactly used like bacon, but are similar or have other purposes, and are made from cow

also, there is others too, i see that goose, duck, chicken, and other animals are used to make similar greasy things

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salo_(food)

this is slanina

it's a really good, long lasting food that requires little care in storage, mostly just keep it sealed up and dry

either smoked, salted or both

in the balkans this is considered to be very hearty food
