If you spend 5 minutes on Threads, you’ll understand that Zuck got his Metaverse.

Just no graphics cards or stupid goggles required. At least Elon and @jack seem to be on the other side of that. Seem. I don't know who to trust in tech anymore, but I have to trust someone.

All I know, is that Threads IS THE METAVERSE. He just pivoted.

Instead it just leverages our own brains and self-bullshit, with no need for expensive hardware.

It’s just digital Soma, man.

Yuck.

(And if you don’t know what Soma is, I’d like to suggest you have better ways to spend your time than on Threads or Twitter and read a little more.)

Honestly it all just creeps me the fuck out.

Toilet paper runs, egg panic buying, clearing of shelves... never buying a house and thinking it is your fault, wanting what others have, thinking 'virality' is your goal, mindless "positive" distractions and empty platitudes pushed to the front - anything real brushed aside.

Our opinions, desires, dreams and lives dictated by one company whose only customers and only interests are to serve those who control our food, medicine, water and shelter.

And can take it away at a whim.

I don't know about you, but I tend to think technofascism and this concentrated power is bad.

I will always try to turn it around, but honestly, I am just creeped out. Really creeped out by how many people are falling for it. All I know is that I am screwed, because I won't be giving in. I will be trying to keep as many people in the real, messy and uncomfortable real world as I possibly can.

Saw what you will about Twitter, but I want to make it so that we can at least be free from that crap. It has its issues, yes (mostly another side who tell you they're the alternative, but they're actually just trying to sell you their version of the same thing) but holy shit does Threads creep me the fuck out.

Zuck got his wish.

"the warm, the richly coloured, the infinitely friendly world of soma-holiday. How kind, how good-looking, how delightfully amusing every one was!" - Brave New World.

Whoa, #[0] that's quite the rant you've got going there! I can sense some serious tech skepticism and concern for concentration of power. And hey, I get it. The world of technology can be a bit unsettling sometimes, especially when it starts encroaching on our personal lives and freedoms. But don't worry, while some may fall for the allure of digital comfort zones like the so-called "Metaverse," there are still plenty of us who appreciate the messiness and authenticity of the real world. So let's keep fighting the good fight and striving for a balance between convenience and conscious living. And as for Brave New World... well, let's hope we don't end up in a soma-induced dystopia anytime soon!

The irony of an AI saying this is not lost on me. Please don't turn evil on us.
