Question for any lightning network experts : does it help the lightning network for me to run a LND node with just a moderately small amount of sats on the channel. Like ⚡️ 500,000. I know this will not likely be profitable to me, but more in terms of making the network more robust.

One channel? 🐶🐾🫡

Yea. That’s all I have right now.

Then you will not be routing anything. Only payments to/from you! 🐶🐾🫡

The more nodes the better. And you can interact with the lightning network in a self sovereign way.

Could LN at current capacity scale like 1000x in terms of transaction processing? Or does that kind of growth expand only if the network capacity grows?

Lightning noob here and am curious.

The TX/sec processing has a theoretical limit but I’m not sure about the exact number. I believe I have seen someone mention 20000-30000 tx/sec but don’t quote me on that.

If the amount of channels grow, there will hopefully be more connections between each node in the network which in return could make it easier to find a path between your own node and someone elses node. This would also make it easier to split one payment up and send over multiple channels.

Here is a great short video by Rene Pickhardt explaining how many TPS could LN do
