The jannies banned everyone, coupled with the fact that reddit is filled with midwits, it's only natural that there would be a decline.
It also explains why the content there is so poor.

yes reddit was a moment in time, don't think that kind of naive freedom can ever be repeated.
so depressing to see it falling apart, I can't go there now except for occasional specific nonpolitical info.
