I like both quotes you used they both offer profound insights🤝. I think the disconnect is the use of the term free. I read the quote by Linus to mean free in the sense anyone can leverage it not free in the sense anyone can use it. For example Bitcoin the network is software that’s free to use but you need bitcoin (which requires some sort of cost to acquire) if you want to spend your bitcoin to buy things. With that said I would be remiss to not point out Graham’s hierarchy of disagreement.
